I have a 1969 A-4 in an Irwin 27. The boat has been stored for about two years. The engine
ran great prior to the lay-up. However, upon checking the engine a short time ago, I found
that all of the oil had leaked out into the bilge. The installation in the Irwin is such that the
oil pan and transmission always lay in bilge water (salt in this case). It is my understanding
that the oil pan is cast iron. Has anyone had experience with one of these oil pans rusting
through? How about a bad output shaft seal on the transmission? I will be pulling the engine
in the spring but it would be great to hear from someone who may have had the same problem.
