I'm looking at buying an 1974 Ericson 27 with an atomic 4 gas engine. During a sea trial, the motor would go only about 1600 rpm in forward gear with full throttle.
In neutral at the dock, it revved over 3000 rpm.
The owner pulled the boat at dry dock, but nothing was fouling the prop.
Does anyone know what could be wrong? I'm very interested in the boat, but want this fixed.
The mechanic is busy, so we have to wait up to two weeks for him.
