WOW OWEN! I HAVE THE EXACT SAME 1 WEEK OLD NEW LEAK! IT APPEARS TO BE COMING OUT AROUND THE PIN THAT THE CHOKE BUTTERFLY VALVE CONTROL CABLE ATTACHES TO. HMMMMM! HISTORY: FOUND I HAD A SMALL LEAK AT MY FUEL FILTER, FREAKED OUT AND CHANGED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM FROM TANK TO CARB INCLUDING SHUTOFFS AND FILTER HOUSING. I HAD ALSO JUST PURCHASED THE CRANK CASE VENT KIT THAT HARD PLUMBS ALL EMMISSIONS TO A POINT ABOVE THE CARB BEFORE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. CARB HAD TO COME OFF. (WORKS GREAT!) HOW EVER, THAT PROJECT JUST COMPLETED, THE FUEL LINE AND FILTER REPLACED AND NOW I HAVE THE DAMN LEAK. SO WHERE DO I START? I BELIEVE IT IS A SYPHONE EFFECT, LIKE TRANSFERING GAS FROM A PORTABLE TANK TO A CAR WITH THE RUBBER HOSE. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHY. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE CHANGES. I'M TRING TO DETERMINE IF OLD FILTER HOUSING HAD A VENT. ( THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM I THINK) A FRIEND TOLD ME TO CHECK FUEL TANK VENT. DOSEN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME BASED ON VENT PICKUP ON TOP OF TANK AND FUEL PICK UP ON BOTTOM. CHECKING IT ANYWAY GET BACK WITH ME, I AM ATTACKING THIS PROBLEM LIKE A MAD MAN. GOOD LUCK! PAUL AND VALERY LIVING ABOARD ALKAID.
