Thanks Steve. I have now replaced the spark plugs that were really full of carbon deposit as well as rusted at their base. Swaped from RJ7 to RJ12 as recommended by Don Moyer. Haven't had the chance to try to fire up the engine yet since. I have changed the distributor cap last year and have a set of points and condenser I purchased from Moyer Marine. Will probably put them on by the week-end if the weather gets better -it is in the lower 40's these days! As for the firing sequence, I believe it is correctly hooked up. Will also order a new spark plug wire set as the one currently on the boat is a bit corroded at the plug end. That might solve the problem. Will also look at the coil as I remember leaving sometimes the ignition on while motor was not running for some prolonged time. What is your thought on this? Thanks a lot for your valuable input.
