Hi Dave:
Thinking about your problem on the way to town. I have a customer that could not start his engine. I advised him to shut the thruhull or he would pump the exhaust full of water and flood the engine. There comes a point where the engine will not start anyway because it can not push all the water out. This water backs into the engine via an open exhaust valve, around the rings and into the crankcase. This is bad. He explained that this had already happened. He called a week later and said he had the engine at an automotive machine shop that did not know much about A-4's. It would not turn over. I assume the rings had rusted to the cylinder. Be careful and be sure to change the oil several times. Salt on those polished parts on the crank, cam etc does them no good.http://www.geocities.com/atomfour/ try this link.
