I replaced the exhaust pipe with new galvanized stock this winter, rewrapped the pipe with fiberglass tape, and repainted the manifold. Now the engine stinks to high heaven after warming up for a bit. The question is whether the stink is from the new paint, heat tape, or galvanized pipe. Will it go away or will I be poisoned first? How many layers of heat tape should I have wrapped the pipe with?
