I'd love to keep the whole engine as "original" as possible, but my patience with the generator is wearing thin. I'm considering swapping in an alternator that I got with a "parts" engine.
My main concern is the pair of longer head bolts (studs) required to mount the alternator bracket onto the head of the engine.
Is it advisable at all to try to remove these two short studs and replace with longer studs WITHOUT taking the whole head off the engine?
Are brand-new studs required, or should I just use the longer studs from my "parts" engine?
Thanks all,
-MH
