The A4 fleet is VERY old. I doubt people would risk taking an 8:1 compression engine and bringing it up to the 20:1 required to generate the heat & pressure to reach the ignition point of cooking oil.
Using old fryer oil from your local grease pit is from the '70's.
Simply filter well and add enough Kerosene to keep it from congealing in your weather, about 25% is a good starting point.
