On my A4 I had some steam. It was caused by water flowing into the manifold as the water/exhaust elbow had corroded. Also had a problem with the carb requiring using the choke to run. Tha was the idle jet pinhole being clogged by garbage from the manifold. With the engine at an angle, any oily substance, or water/rust will ooze down the manifold and clog the idle jet. After fixing the problem I treated myself to a new carb from Moyer and am very happy I did.
