I have an electric fuel pump that operates independently of the ignition switch - the pump turns on and off with a pull switch (like the choke) and it continue to run until switch is pushed in, even if the ignition switch is off. Recently, I failed to shut off the pump for a minute after shutting off the motor, and later I smelled fumes and found gas in the fuel arrestor. Should pressure cause the fuel pump to shut off, or do I need to get this thing wired to the ignition.
