It would appear after getting the pump off and running the engine for a few seconds that my concerns were answered. The leak is very definitely a combination of a bad gasket and a bolt which doesn't seat well. The leak comes through the bottom mounting bolt hole of the water pump to the block. A new gasket and some Permatex should hopefully alleviate any new leaks. I'll keep you posted.
