Andy:
I have a Tempo tank as an auxillary set-up and have their priming bulb plumbed in before the primary fuel filter.
Just squeeze the bulb until it feels firm. You should be good to go from there.
I also recommend that you install a fuel "polishing" filter after the fuel pump just before the carburetor to eliminate any dirt from clogging the main jet...you'd be surprised how much junk it will catch.
I think you get get a kit from Don Moyer's website www.moyermarine.com or just make up your own using a Napa Gold fuel filter part #3032 (351B3K), about one foot of Coast Guard approved gas line, and 4 #6 Stainless Steel clamps.
Good Luck!
