Let me give you the recent history. Returning from Annapolis, I got to the mouth of the Patapsco, and the engine died. We were using the engine because we were practically becalmed. Putting up the sails didn't even keep us in position. Not enough wind for anything, so we dropped anchor an got towed into the marina. The mechanic told me ti was the electric fuel pump. he replaced it. He also said I had a lot of water in the gas tank.
In March I changed marinas. Boat was motored from old to new (about an hour or two) and everything worked fine.
A few weeks ago my neighbor and I were checking on our boats. If you know about Md weather, you know the past month or so has been one of rain, rain, rain. The weather looked like it was clearing when we got to may boat, and we decided to go out. We motored out and checked out a location we had been thinking of anchoring in, and started back. We got back to the mouth of the bay and the engine died. Acted like it ran out of gas. Called tow service and they brought me 5 gallons. Poured it in and the motor took off like gangbusters. Waved good bye to the tow boat (he had to leave for another tow), and started for the marina. Got about 5 minutes (or less) along (not very far) and the motor died and refused to even catch, let alone start. Got topwed into the marina and tied up. Tried motor. Not catching. Went home and came back later with some tools. Tried motor and it would not catch. I have lots of battery, so no problem with starter. Problem is either fuel or ignition. I want to pump out some gas from the tank and see if there is water there. Sounds more like something is clogged, but want to check everything. Any suggestions?
