Mike,There is a gear reduction when in reverse. This might account for the engine's ability to rev up in neutral and reverse.If you have not made any changes since the last time it operated well, I would check the timing and make sure your spark plug wires are in the correct order. You may also want to make sure that the propeller is not fouled.Good Luck!Steve Kaminsky
