After visiting all the diesel guys at the Boston Boat Show I have decided to have MOYER MARINE repair and Update my 1973 A-4. The engine is mounted backwards in the boat because it uses a Walther Vee-Drive and none of the diesel guys, including the Westerbeke guy
had an engine that would not require expensive modifications to retrofit. I am not a mechanic. With the shipping charges and updates from Moyer, and the cost of removing and restoring the engine on the boat, the total cost should be in the $5,000 range. It is either that or put an outboard on the back. We have pretty much decided the the main problem is ring connected and the engine would have to come out of the boat in any event. Thanks to all who had input. I will let you know how things go.
