DON'T close the seacock to your cockpit drains. If your going to keep the engine water intake closed you might hang your ignition key from the handle before you leave the boat.
It'll keep you from forgetting to open it and overheating your engine. I have a friend that toasted a yanmar pretty good that way. The overtemp alarm never chirped.
Personnaly I keep them open, but then again we are by definition dare devils. Hasn't a diesel owner warned you that A-4's blowup periodically???
LMAO
John
PS. Cracking the engine cover to open that seacock IS a good chance to sniff the bilge for gas. Enjoy your boat.
