Thank goodness someone's talking about this subject. I have a newly reconditioned Atomic-4 for a fresh water installation, and it's going onto the mounting pedestal/box in an East Coast Triton 28, hull #477. The box lip at the aft end was destroyed by the previous owner, and I've repaired it, but think I must use lag bolts for the rear mount because no room beneith the platform for nuts & washers. Also, no mounting bolts or shims came with the boat. Can anybody advise what size, composition of mounting bolts and associated hardware, and perhaps a source, if these are not common hardware items. One question I have is: Will stainless steel be galvanic with the engine mount and destroy the engine? This is for a fresh water-cooled setup.
I would like to have the crane come to help with the job by January, if you have an answer...and thanks, in advance.
