Thanks for all the great ideas!! I tested them all. I have compression, spark, and smelled gas on the new spark plugs (but didn't actually see anything wet on them). Though I don't know how good the compression is...how does one measure that? Also had 12V across alternator to negative on the coil (used as ground), and proper resistance across the new coil. I also didn't see any gas looking down under the flame arrestor. So I'm thinking now it's a gas delivery problem... in either fuel pump or carberator. Do you think that's a reasonable diagnosis?

P.S.....What is a "flame arrestor"?...Is it just an air filter?..and why is it called that?
