Make sure you use bronze fittings: you can tell them since they are cast and will have some rough surfaces. The best source is Groco or Perko through-hull fittings that adapt from pipe threads to hose barb fittings. You may have to order them through a marine store from a catalog since some of the smaller sizes are difficult to find. Best of luck.
