I had the same symptoms. In my case, I believed that they were caused by a shortage of fuel to the engine and suspected that I had taken a load of dirty fuel on board. I cleaned out the fuel tank and line, replaced the filters and the electrical fuel pump, and the engine has run satisfactorily ever since. The fuel pump was probably the real culprit.
