Subject:   Compression Check - How To?

Message Posted

It's been a long time since I did any 'wrenching', but am looking at a '75 C27 with an A4. Have found the correct specs for compression but would like some pointers on how to run the test, such as: Cool/cold or at operating temp?, crank the engine with the battery or can it be done by hand? What type of tester is best - threaded into the plug opening or pressed in place with a rubber end-piece providing the seal? Run two times - dry and wet, if first readings are low?
