Just start in the middle and work outwards, alternating sides.
Remember, you'll need to retorque later. The new-style composite gasket only needs to be retorqued once, but the two-gasket ones need to be done *four* times. (Don't ask me how how found this out....)
Torque the head, then run the engine briefly and do it again. Then bring the engine up to operating temperature and do it again. Finally, do it again a month later. Copper head gaskets get smeared with engine oil, but the composite ones get fitted dry....
