We have had to replace our oil pan, as the original was
rusted through, allowing oil to get out and salt water
to get in. Our mechanic noticed some rust on the gears
and has warned us this will cut down on the life of the
engine. He doesn't want to predict how long it will
last. The A-4 seems very tough in many ways, is now
running very cool and smoothly, with good compression.
Does anyone have a guess-timate about how much rust on
the gears may limit the life of our engine? Thanks.
