I have an atomic four that seems to be running way to Rich. The spark plugs become full of black carbon and the engine dies. I have tried two different carburators. One Carburator worked really well then after a week got worse and the engine now dies. I have an electronic fuel pump that works fine. Maybe too well? Is is it possible to pump too much fuel? As I understand the Carburator will manage the flow of gas. The fuel filter is new. I put new gas in so that should be ok..Although there was older gas in the tank from before that could have been bad? But would bad gas cause enough carbon to kill the engine? All spark components are new Coil, condensor, points, cap and wires. Points are gapped at .020 Did not play with the magneto adjustment? Do I need to for this problem? Timing with a light is right on the money? Valve job was just completed, and over all the engine has a good amount of power 2400 RPM under load. Compression check for all cylinders is around 100psiI have smoke coming out of the oil filler cap as another guy did and that may be blow by from rings? Would that cause a huge carbon buildup or incomplete combustion? Help..im Ready to throw this engine over Board!
