I have an A4 that was just starting to run a little hot (180 degrees or higher) under heavy load.
I flushed the cooling system with muriatic acid and replaced the engine side plate. Now the A4 temperature, as indicated on the temp. gauge, never goes much above 100 degrees!
The thermostat housing is cool to the touch. The head is very warm but not hot to the touch.
When I pinch the hose between the T fitting and the thermostat housing the temperature drops a degree or two.
After running the A4 for 15 minutes, I turned it off and let it sit for several minutes. When I turned the ignition back on, the temp. gauge read a little higher than it had with the engine running, and slowly dropped.
I believe I have read all the posts on this forum for A4's running too cool.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
