I suggest you fog the engine rather than flog it.
Most automotive stores and marinas have a convenient aerosol fogging spray. Shoot it in the carb while the engine is fast idling until the engine stalls. Then pull the plugs out, and try to coat as much of the cylinder walls as possible with the spray tube. Put the plugs in, and turn the engine over a few times. Don't start it up though, you'll burn the oil away.
Years ago, before all the fancy spray oils came out, my Dad did basically the same thing with shots of 10W30 motor oil.
