Hi -- I tried to find a good used Walter V-Drive to replace my 28 year old RV-20D but found out that these things really don't ever break. Only time someone takes one out is when it is in really bad shape or after they whack something with the prop. I paid $1,200 for a "rebuilt" RV-20D last year at my local marina, then found out all the guy did was replace a seal and never checked the bearings. I checked with Walters (they're in Jersey City, New Jersey) and they told me that the unit I bought was over 35 years old. Well, after installing it, aligning it, I finally ran it only to find out it had the wrong gears in it (my marina never told me to check the gear ratio . . . ). I got so frustrated I called Walters and bought a new unit. They're real nice people at Walters and I got the new unit in and I can't even hear it running it is so quiet. Save your time and your blood pressure -- spend a few more $ and get a new one! (Actually the new ones are a lot less than my marina had told me they were).

Chad
