I can't help with your access problem but when you do manage to get at it I strongly recommend that you convert it to electronic ignition. Indigo Electronics - www.atomic4.com (run by an A-4 owner) sells an excellent kit. After installing one myself, I mentioned it to a local mechanic (who rebuilt my engine) and he reports that he installed several himself the next year. Once it is installed you will have now reason to have to get to the distributor for many years. No points or condenser to worry about.
