Just got the A4 running in my Columbia 30 (bought two years ago and has been on the hard as I went thru the boat completely). Engine was rebuilt in 2001 and never used before I bought the boat. Finally got around to working on the power-plant.
After I learned the hard way that one doesn't use a garden hose to supply cooling water into the engine ( 5 oil changes later!) I'm seeing up-wards of 80psi in the oil pressure gauge... which is about as high as the gauge goes! Now, since I have no history with this motor, I have no clue what "normal" is. This seems high to me, and may well be a faulty gauge for all I know since it has been unused for so long.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
