The old style engines originaly had a hand pump mounted just forward of the fuel pump. Some plastic tubing can be attached to the outlet, although it can still be a pain to work the pump. If yours is missing, Moyer Marine sells a kit that includes the dip tube and fittings. It looks like you then need to attach a hand pump to the tubing, which may be easier than the original setup.
