I have been struggling with hard starting all season. I've traced the problem down to the carburetor. Its getting spark, has compression and its even getting fuel from the fuel pump. Unfortunately its not always getting gas into the carb.
I have noticed that if I hit the carb with a pole, it will eventually turn over. Once it turns, its good to go.
I took apart the old carb. My thought was that the float was sticking. Upon inspection, I noticed that it would sometimes stick. I tried to clean it with a carburetor cleaner and the wooden dowel (ala Moyer). This didn't work so I bought a new carb. I just got it today and notice that the float needle sticks just like the old one. Is it usual that if you lift the float, closing the needle valve.... that the valve will stick a little. It comes down with a shake or a tap (I'm thinking that pole.) I haven't installed this carb yet.... so I don't know if its going to do the trick.
Any ideas.... suggestions.
Thanks.
