clean that out and if all the water is gone in the tank you are good to go. If the water level is above the pickup tube, no matter how much gas you put in will the engine work. I am working on a friends A4 with a similar problem. His deck cap leaks water down into the tank, the water level is above the level of the pickup tube - the A4 will take a beating but it cannot run on pure water.
