Subject:   Locking in forward gear.

Message Posted

I have an atomic 4 (planetary gears) which ever since I have had it has been very difficult to get in and out of forward (it takes a determined foot on the lever to move it in or out of gear). I have followed the adjustment procedure One flat adjustment on the adjuster nut is the difference between slipage and drive.
I took the transmission out expecting to find the plates were worn out. I actually found that there was only 5 plates not 6 as per the manual but have since been told this is normal. The replacement plates are no thicker than the old plates. Does anyone have a suggestion before I re-assemble the transmission and find I have the same problem again. Thanks Glyn
