Thanks Steve. I have now replaced the spark plugs
that were really full of carbon deposit as well as
rusted at their base. Swaped from RJ7 to RJ12 as
recommended by Don Moyer. Haven't had the chance to
try to fire up the engine yet since.
I have changed the distributor cap last year and
have a set of points and condenser I purchased from
Moyer Marine. Will probably put them on by the week-end
if the weather gets better -it is in the lower 40's
these days!
As for the firing sequence, I believe it is correctly
hooked up. Will also order a new spark plug wire set
as the one currently on the boat is a bit corroded
at the plug end. That might solve the problem. Will
also look at the coil as I remember leaving sometimes
the ignition on while motor was not running for some
prolonged time. What is your thought on this?
