Subject:   Fouled Plugs

Message Posted

I beleive I've got a carburator and/or main jet that needs cleaning but not sure how to remve carb. from engine. My A-4 is not the easiest thing to get access to and I can't see where any bolts holding the carb. onto the engine are located. The engine started givning me problems after running up two rivers over the course of three days. The first two days I was running at 2000 rpm and the third day at about 1000. On the fourth day it started hesitating and finally stalled. Upon arriving home I checked the plugs and they were as black as soot. New ones foul in about 5 minutes. It runs the worst while in gear but still doesn't run well at idle. I've adjusted the idle screw but just made things worse. I also ran some carb cleaner through the gas but still nothing. I think I need to get at the carb.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
