I recently put a new Head gasket on my A4. My local parts supplier sold me a composit gasket with paperwork stating that this was the recommended replacement as opposed to the double paper gaskets. Also provided was a diagram of the torque sequence.

I installed the gasket per the instructions provided and re torqued once after letting the engine warm up.

Worked like a charm! Good Luck.
