I think you are looking for a simple fix to a bad situation. I have done the same thing. If you took it off twice and cleaned it and it's still not working I would either rebuild it or replace. A kit costs about $40.00, a new carb with an adjustable main jet cost about $140.00 from Zenith Fuel systems. I've rebuilt mine about 3-4 times and finally spent the money for a new one and it runs great, just like a new engine.
